Tampa Bay's population over 65 years old numbers 18.7% — just under one in five residents — making this metro area amongst the oldest among 53 major metros in the US. Over 20% of Florida residents are 65 years or older (Florida has 55% of all US cities with the oldest population), just behind Maine. Utah is the 'youngest' state with just 11% over 65.
